The special anniversary celebrations will begin with a beautiful Freitig Tzu Nakht program. Keynote speaker will be former principal Mr. Heilik. Brother and sister graduates Debbie and Jerry Maslowsky will lead us in a sing song of favourite Yiddish songs. You won’t leave empty handed; you’ll be able to keep the souvenir song-book, which is being specially created for the sing song. The evening will culminate with a reception at the gedekte tishen and an opportunity for schmoozing.
Saturday, August 2 - 8 pm
Every Peretz School celebration had a concert concerts have become synonymous with Peretz School this anniversary concert will celebrate Yiddish music and culture, featuring Peretz alumni who have gone on to fame and fortune in the professional arts, as well as a “house band” and an Alumni Choir. If you are interested in singing with the Alumni Choir, contact Miriam Baron at (204) 334-8762 or mbaron16@mts.net, or Kinzey Posen at (204) 896-3671 or Kinsey_Posen@cbc.ca. Please note that there will be several rehearsals in Winnipeg in advance of the weekend.
Sunday August 3 - 12 pm
Participate in the official opening of an archival exhibit, coordinated by the Exhibits Committee, chaired by Miggie Lampe, in cooperation with the Jewish Heritage Centre in the mounting of the JHS historical exhibit on “The Impact of Yiddish Culture on Winnipeg”. There will also be a complementary display of photos. Although the official opening is Sunday, Peretz alumni may be treated to a “sneak preview” of the display on Thursday and Friday, July 31, and August 1. Please note that the committee is interested in your photos and/or artifacts. The committee intends to have Peretz memorabilia displayed throughout the Campus for the weekend. More volunteers are welcome, particularly those from the 1950's and on, who could help with identification. Please contact Miggie Lampe at (204) 488-7686 or miglampe@mb.sympatico.ca.

A gala dinner at the Convention Centre, where you can continue to shmooz and enjoy.
Monday, August 4 - 11 am
If there is sufficient interest, there will be tours of the sites of the former schools, as well as other Winnipeg memory spots.

Send us your photos, diplomas, (copies only as we cannot return any originals) and personal stories about the school for possible inclusion in our souvenir book and archive display. We will be publishing a souvenir book, edited by Sharon Chisvin (schisvin@shaw.ca). The book will contain greetings, pictures, and stories. And should you wish to help out with the fund-raising end of this initiative, please consider advertising or including a personal greeting. A rate card will be supplied in the Registration Package. We are also working with a number of hotel chains to secure great room rates for the weekend. There will be promotional items and a video of the weekend, which can be ordered in advance. Details will follow in a mailing in January 2003.

What could be better than being surrounded by Yiddish phrases, jokes, songs, and stories while visiting and catching up with friends and acquaintances. So, mark your calendars, call your travel agents, book your babysitters, and grab your cameras and photo-albums….
